3io  Michael’s approach to music created by his 3io is contemporary but not without it’s acknowledgments to what came before in this tradition.  You’ll hear compositions from the Beatles, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, James Taylor, Grateful Dead as well as originals and some name sake traditional artists from the jazz Genre. There’s no shortage of improvisation and these explorations are bound to leave you amazed.  This perhaps is the strongest suit of this trio is there ability to let go, stretch-out musical boundaries and not worry about where it is going.  It’s the edge they seek.  What is unique to their approach is that they leave bread crumbs of subtle sonic hints to keep the listener engaged; Fragments of the melody can be heard, melodies from other songs drift in and out. At times they just drop what they’re doing and do a complete 180 degree musical about face and forge a new composition.

Our Song  "Michael LaMacchia’s adventurous new trio recording is an alluring arc of luminous songwriting and deeply centered conversations that capture our attention and invite us to participate. “Our Song” sonically narrates of a very personal journey that shimmers with a blend of pastoral memories, mysterious storytelling and vulnerable confessions. Each of the eleven songs takes shape from spirited group interaction and contoured dynamics that together, reward us with incandescent insight and reflection into our own passage."     - Ken Cook,  jazz pianist

Crossroads Music Community - School,  Michael LaMacchia had a vision to bring playing music back to the masses and Crossroads Music school was just the vehicle to do it.   Michael Is an accomplished and diverse musician who has made quite a name for himself in the Bay Area.  Michael delights in bringing musicians and music enthusiasts together in a shared experience of community.  Over 14 years ago, he took his passion for music one step further by founding the Closet Musicians Workshop (CMW) in which he responded to the yearning of people who have always dreamed of being in a band, but didn't have the resources or connections to make it happen.

Michael offers an environment of playful learning, skillful coaching, and unwavering support, empowering his students to live their dream, take the stage and shine.  In the beginning, CMW hosted 2 classes per semester a mere three years later it has blossomed into 20 classes per semester.  The success of CMW combined with Michael's desire to take his vision to an even greater evolution inspired him to start his new multidimensional project called Crossroads—offering all the best of CMW plus new dimensions by helping professionals as well as students.  First with CMW and now with Crossroads, Michael LaMacchia is inspired to create a significant presence in the ever-growing Bay Area music scene for his family of bands and Musicians, Stay tuned.
